|
Fante (or Fanti) is one of the languages spoken in Ghana. Like Twi, it is considered a dialect of Akan. Fante is the common language for communicating between the several Kingdoms of the Fante though each has its own language. Many Fanti are monolingual. It is classified as part of the Kwa branch of the Niger-Congo language family. Kwame Nkrumah was one of the great spokesman of this language. Some other notable speakers are Kofi Annan and Maya Angelou
